Q: Are you planning to introduce other protocols to the Midi_IO set?
A: Well the Midi_IO will concentrate on what it does best - Midi. On the other hand, to complement it, a new Channelset (DMX_IO) is in the pipeline and will focus essentially on the
DMX512 protocol.
Q: How transparent is the Licensing?
A: To prevent frustration, the licensing model does not introduce any royalties or hidden extra costs. The purchase price is the only fee you will have to pay, nothing more!!
Q: Briefly, what are the differences between the Indie and Company License types ?
A:The Midi_IO channelset can be separated into 2 levels of utilisation, Design-time and Run-time.
Design-time:
- Indie license
The Indie license is a non transferrable license (without prior authorisation from eLeMenCy) and is exclusively reserved to individuals or sole traders with a yearly income below GBP100K allowing you to install the Midi_IO on more than one computer as long as you are the only user. Although I would appreciate under this license that the Midi_IO logo is displayed either upon start-up or closure of any Quest3D projects, it is not strictly required. This License must be upgraded to the Company level if Licensee's revenue subsequently increases to GBP100K or above in a year.
- Company License
The Company license is for individuals (with revenues equal or higher than GBP100K) or business entities or corporates. Additional licenses for each user that will use the Midi_IO within a business or corporate entity at the rate of one license/seat per user is compulsory. Quantity discounts are available under the Company license in the form of:
- Company Site License designed to cover multiple employees at one site. So, if you have two or more offices in a 93-miles (150 Km) radius area, you can consider them as one site. Please contact aticka.com for details.
- Company World-wide License is designed to accommodate larger enterprises with multiple locations.
The Company world-wide license might be the best deal. It has no limitation on the number of users or where they are located. It covers all company personnel, including consultants working on company projects. It does not cover subsidiary companies that operate under a different name, or customers of the company. Please contact aticka.com for details.
Run-time:
There are no run-time restrictions on a fully licensed product. Any number of projects (commercial or not) created with a legitimatelly licensed version of the Midi_IO can be published and distributed freely as executable, installer, web page or screen saver to any number of users regardless of the type of license acquired. No royalties
All projects published with the demo or trial edition of the Midi_IO can't be used commercially and have their execution frozen for 5 seconds every 1 minutes. This nagging behaviour is removed automatically when the product is fully licensed.
Q: Will I get a hard copy of the software?
A: No, the Midi_IO is only available as a download. All documentation which also comes with the download is provided as .pdf files but is also available to registered users on this website as html.
Q: I have purchased a registration key but my published projects still temporarily freeze every 2 minutes or so?
A: Ensure that the Midi_IO (Options) channel has been added and saved into at least one of your project's groups (Although it will do no harm, this channel doesn't need to be linked) re-publish your project and from then on, all should be OK. If for any reason you continue to experience hanging, please contact me.
Q: I used to be able to buy your products directly from eLeMenCy but now I get redirected to Aticka.com - is this normal?
A: yes it is, Aticka (which is my own commercial entity) acts as a reseller for all my products and others such as Quest3D, Genetica and DMX hardware as well as providing consultancy and visualisation services. This allows me to keep development and commercial aspects of my channelsets completely independent from each other.
Q: Can I reinstall my trial channel after it has expired?
A: Unfortunately, it is not possible to restart the trial version once it expires at the end of the trial period. When the trial period runs out, installing the trial channel again onto the same computer will not reset the trial period. You can, however, install the trial channel onto another machine that has not previously had the trial channel installed on it.
